Naylors goes for growth with new MD
April 2014
Naylors has appointed a new managing director as part of a drive to take the business forward to new levels in what they anticipate will be their most successful year.
The North East independent firm of chartered surveyors has experienced a surge of new instructions across all departments as business sentiment has improved and to coincide with this upturn the firm has confirmed the appointment of Angus White as their new Managing Director.
Angus, who takes over the lead from practice founder Bill Naylor, joined Naylors in 1998 as head of asset management and has grown the department from a standing start to a portfolio of over ninety properties.
Angus commented; ‘Whilst continuing to be responsible for the property and asset management team where recent instructions have taken the annual rental roll to over £5 million, myself, Bill and the other directors will be working hard to capitalise on the firm’s solid foundations to take the business forward to new levels.’
Naylors is a multi-disciplinary firm of property consultants offering a comprehensive range of services including; Investment, Agency, Building surveying and Management. During the past twelve months the firm has appointed eight new staff members in response to a general increase in work. These have included the appointment of an asset manager, an administrator, three building surveyors, an assistant facilities manager and two new surveyors in office agency including a new department head. This takes the total number of staff to an all time high of twenty-five, confirming their position as one of the leading independent firms of chartered surveyors in the region.
Bill Naylor commented: ‘Having survived the recession we are now making plans to continue to expand the spread of work we are involved in, offering wide ranging property consultancy services from our offices in Newcastle and Teesside. This period of growth has highlighted the need to plan for the future and whilst I will remain fully involved in the business it is an ideal time for Angus to assume responsibility for refining and developing the business plan, with a focus on pushing Naylors forward as a truly multi-disciplinary firm.’
The firm’s recent surge of new instructions has included over twenty new properties to add to its management portfolio, a host of new work for the building team including new contracts for ISOS Housing and UK Land Estates. Also the industrial agency team has been boosted by instructions accumulating to almost one million sq ft, whilst office agency has added nearly 200,000 sq ft of new offices to its instruction book. Investment has also completed a number of key transactions including the acquisition of 52 Coney Street in York, the acquisition of four units at Westway Industrial Park in Throckley, Newcastle and the sale of a high street retail property in Berwick.
Bill adds: ‘We are confident that as business sentiment continues to improve we will see a sustained increase in the levels of occupier demand in all markets and with Angus stepping up to his new role of Managing Director we hope that as the year progresses it will bring further growth and positivity across the firm’.
