Location

Newcastle International Airport is the largest airport in the North East of England and the 11th largest in the UK. It has been in existence for over 80 years and is a global gateway, providing connections for businesses to make and maintain trade links, and export their goods. It contributes significantly to the North East's economy with recent growth in passenger numbers increasing the Airport's economic impact. The Newcastle International Airport Masterplan 2035 estimates that, with forecasted growth in passenger numbers, the economic contribution of the Airport to the region's economy could be worth up to £1 billion per annum of GVA, supporting over 14,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Newcastle International Airport is located at the heart of the region's main road network. The main A1 road link to Scotland and the south is only a five-minute drive (2.7miles) and is accessed via the A696. The A1 provides the main route to Edinburgh to the north which is only two hours' drive, and heading southwards there is access to the A19 corridor which links to Sunderland, Tees Valley and York.

3.5 miles west is the A69, the gateway to Cumbria and the M6 motorway, linking to the Western Scotland and Western England. Tyne and Wear Metro is a light rail system with 60 stations serving Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North Tyneside and South Tyneside. Airlink is only a two-minute walk from Callerton Parkway Metro station which is one stop from Newcastle International Airport terminal building. Callerton Parkway Metro station also offers direct links to Newcastle Central Station linking Northern and East Coast rail services with central London, Birmingham and Manchester.
